A deeper severance from “home”.

The search for insights which survive and/or transcend decay and death… to live with and by.

Has there been in American society in our time – not to consider before – any attempt to gain knowledge, insight, and wisdom from History? in addition to the tendency in America to assume that life is to be enjoyed rather than understood, perhaps, the knowledge, insights, and wisdom that would be gained would be ashaming to the human being.

A month, mainly amongst those who not only have not started, and don’t know they have not started, clarifies to me now once again, though perhaps this time deeper, that I will continue, leaving behind they’re standing unconscious dormant ignorance.

Spoken to man as a social-political animal.

The exceptional economic conditions in post World War II America allowed the development and growth of a generation or two, which in such conditions did not recognize the reality of this exceptionality.

A German historian, one who had been in a German prisoner of war camp knew and presented muc of this to me four decades ago, but it took me time to recognize it, as is sometimes necessary, on my own.

How much even only 20th-century history – not even to need consider “centuries” of events and wars and atrocities – and the literatures and ideas and philosophies and religious on “the” question of evil…

It seems less that people do not live in History than they live in a permanent state of present mind…one might say of unmindfulness.

“Evil” is most often certainly believed and located outside one, one’s self, one’s group, one’s nation, one’s ideas and life. But everything, everyone, is “adulterated” with evil to some degree – whether actualized, or realized, or not. It is an outer and inner human reality. And this should just be recognized as, also, human – individually and/or collectively – in the struggle between what is conceived as “good versus evil”.

This ignored unpopular fact undermines – makes unrealistic – most of the proposals for solutions in history.

“Unadulterated evil”?”Unadulterated life”?

No.

As there is the idea of “incarnation”, so there can be the concept of inhistorization, wherein one joins one self-consciously into history past and present.

Rural squirrels have far too little experience with cars for their own good.

The direction towards material comfort, success, nay, wealth, by those describable as parts of the group soul, set the standards and goals of society, which not only limits the spiritual development of men and and women of man, but also are leading to material catastrophe.
