If you seek to recognize most persons understanding of their place and life in the world, you need to learn more than they know.

The world- and life-views by most everywhere and everywhen reveal a mixture, often an admixture, of an other world and this world – the(ir) understanding of this world soliciting essential meaning from that. It is too much to expect most to realize the historicity of the(ir) admixture(s) in which they live, move and think their beings.

Defined and argued since “nirvana” entered first less than clearly understood into the mid-19th century “West”, there does seem to be something inhuman, or ahuman, in seeking to extract oneself into a peaceful silence (where there is no wind, as it were) detached from one’s daily life, tasks, “joys and woes”, than to be vital and human in one’s life. In other words, as if being human and nirvana were antipodes. Antipathies.

Perhaps the most realistic and true Answer as to whatever Meaning Life may have is not the many answers provided by religions and philosophies, but the Question.

One’s own psyche is one’s most pervasive “location”.

Realistically considered: life, social observations, travel, history,… allow one to conclude that serious efforts at self education – little matter in what country, tradition, populace – would lead serious individuals to extract themselves from the perennially omnipresent dormant majorities, little matter whence.

And while extractors will find most around them sleeping inside one of the various societal traditions, cultures of the world, there will be much commonality as to the “sleep “of those around. A subnational perennial condition.

There may ultimately, in fact, be no Answers; but it is realistic for humans to live by Questions. However few do.

And if the sense of being human is not happiness?
