If ” no man is an island”, I prefer to be part of a continent of those who need the life and insights of books. Certainly there is, if only by the fate of birth and upbringing, a “continent” of society, of heart and soul, and death…yet that is far from enough for those who in their islandic selves need and seek insights and ununderstanding. If “no Man is an Island”… then these would be self-educed non-islands.

Is “God” (and/or Gawd) not (ab)used as a kind of fairy dust many sprinkle on their doings?

Deep in the night, my body wake, I work while most about sleep.

Life amidst The Asleep. Polite amid the dormant polity.

Having been raised in a rather fully happy-earthly-life way, I came — also via some dramatic events in early manhood ( though I was hardly a man) while on the road — to a kind of inner, dedicated, lost-seeking-found monkdom.

Deepening a deepened knowledge of History amidst a people living, thinking and being in its massive unconscious shared ahistoria. Where and how shall I find a serious conversation?

It is as if — in fact it, I, was so — I need(ed) compare my life, my acts, thoughts and intents to others in history. Certainly my upbringing and inherited social groups gave me no such preparation. And learning from the greats of history is like “polite deference and modesty” on a deeper level.

The professor does project too much, methinks.
