While one can stand without others alone on a mountaintop, to actually stand alone inwardly sovereign is rare.

Most scholars are rather man tinkering.

The revelation at Mt Sinai is diminished down into anthropocentricity, if not biography, as Emerson walked across Boston commons:

“Standing on the bare ground,—my head bathed by the blithe air and uplifted into infinite space,—all mean egotism vanishes. I become a transparent eyeball; I am nothing; I see all; the currents of the Universal Being circulate through me; I am part or parcel of God.” – Nature (1836)

My adoption and adaption of Hesse’s Steppenwolf was confirmed anew by the sub specie intellect lecture by a leading scholar – regarding Jonathan Edwards and Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Yet “Man” is deeply lost an inner and outer world of words. Especially scholars.

Ideas dominate man, rather than man ideas.

Inherent to the human species in society are those who are criminally stupid. Criminal stupidity. Though being insane, they can be blamed.

If “man has on the earth no home”, he certainly spends most of his life trying to make one.

….whose degree of knowledge has them supporting and cheering, even financing, a man of the character – their man! – as Trump.

It was for me an important discovery some two decades ago to learn that already in what was later numerated as the sixth century the time of “revelation” was claimed to have passed, ended. Now I would, also with more years of bewusste Bildungsreisen, rather recognize that it is not what one may discover, find, experience upon Mount Sinai, but what one is thereon – what one inwardly brings to Mount Sinai.

What knowledge must not be rescued from academia? Virtually none.
