Those who have followrled the patterns of their upbringing in society, in beliefs, behaviors,… until when they retire, they also accept that life is behind them.

It could be argued that many have not begun to live their lives, even by the time of retirement. They lived the life they assumed.

Henry David Thoreau wrote that you cannot kill time without injuring eternity. I say you cannot kill time without injuring your self.

It is an interesting, if seldom recognized, fact that the world does not immediately present its Meaning, if any, directly in itself.

While some” Romantics” – German, and/or other – mystics, and philosophers of various times have said: Man is the answer to the question. (It is a platitude to say that Man is the only animal so far as we know which asks it.)

Seeking Knowledge to endure and deepen being; then knowledgeably to recognize being as greater than Knowledge… a deepened challenge to be.

Is Augustine’s imago dei any more or less realistic than Goethe’s imago natura? The books of the Bible than the books of Homer?

That which constitutes “politics” is at its deeper level, different ideas of mankind – its meaning and purpose.

For those who do not remain asleep or adream in their inherited “religious” beliefs, whatever alternative “theology”, “religion” they come to understand the world and their lives by, the point is to live in it.

In other words: after Adam named the beasts, he had to live with them.

Many come to need, find – or create – replacements to their inherited religions to live by. The outer, social, inner patterns and beliefs of the inheritances are filled by the replacements.

Most live as if others are responsible for the world.

I have long gone too far to immediately accept normal immediate social evaluation’s and judgments.
