Certainly a deep fear is to recognize, to feel, that there is no Meaning. A rare sensation– for most happily – in its full (in)significance.

While I suppose most read for distraction or escape from daily life, its chores and routines, their selves, and any undesirable lurking ennui – and then there is the character and content of the read – every sentence can be read with a different significance, use, depending on the reasons, the purposes, of reading.

Without understanding at the outset that Vivien Leigh is supposed to be Scarlett at 16 years of age, her immaturity, and evolution until the final words and scene are not comprehensible. For at the end she is 21. (And she really does love Rhett.)

Rule of law or rule of man?

That a majority of Americans voted for an individual who had previously attempted to stay in power, essentially a coup, reveals that a majority of the American people are either too ignorant or stupid to know there was a coup attempt…or don’t care.

Either way, the rule of law in America may have in nascence been voted out on November 5, 2024.
