Considering the long history of the demos, it should not be surprising that an individual clearly unqualified to be president the first time was reelected. The fate of the US constitutional order seems to depend on the traditionally believed wisdom, the seniors knowledge, of the Senate. Though it will likely rather depend on the courage of a few individual Senators.

It is less determinative that most humans live in a kind of sleep, than that they are unaware of it.

Having been reelected does not make him any less unfit for office.

Though it does reveal the “fitness” of a majority of Americans for democracy.

But in a true “democracy*”an unfit president would be elected by an unfit majority.

Calling someone a dupe rather than duped at least it gives them the credit of being a responsible entity, however foolish, weak and group minded.
