Many blame politic(ian)s for realities of economics. I.e. capitalism. 

With the reelection of Donald Trump, the position and reputation of America in the world is now unalterably lessened.

The most powerful social force, and the fear of it, is death.

The USA is now no longer the leader of the democratic and free world.

And while many who voted for Trump were gullible to his lies, and even if there is no “mandate”, it does seem to me a realistic revelation of average, if lower, American mentality.

As Heather Cox Richardson said this afternoon (November 12, 2024) the election of Trump reveals that
“The USA has abdicated its role as a leader in world affairs. It is no longer going to try to protect democracies, it is no longer going to try to protect human rights. We gave that up. And that is the beginning of a new era in world politics.”

Assumptions of nonexistent ultimacies.

Many blame on politic(ian)s what actually is due to economy.

Certainly a deep fear is to recognize, to feel, that there is no Meaning. A rare sensation– for most happily – in its full (in)significance.

Americans can hardly describe themselves as Americans without evoking, rarely consciously, Thomas Jefferson’s “created equal” (1776) and James Truslow Adams “American Dream” (1931).
