It is less that they have beliefs and traditions and customs than their these have them.

Very little of human history existed in my youth. Nothing like TS Elliott’s 1922 Wasteland or Walter Lippmann’s 1929 Preface to Morals morals existed, perhaps ever, in that world then. But then, again, almost none of human history existed in our safe life.

Reflecting… it is perhaps something to note: having been alone on the road across America from east coast to California and back for 89 days. April-July 2024. Here Nevada.

The politics of petty men and women in Washington DC have recently destroyed America’s reputation in the world. In part by not standing up to the unfit person who is President.

Is not the main factor in the gradual or sufden collapse of a “civilization” collective human stupidity?

Those I know who comfortably speak of “praying”, are generally those who have never seriously questioned and felt the possible reality of an uncaring godless world and life. Such an ignorance is in many ways emotionally much better.

Most everyone else seems to be shopping, so isn’t that the purpose of life. The main goal of human existence?
