“Beer, women and football”

Alabama’s version of the 1770s German song (in English) “wine, women and song”. It was from inwardly watching the weekly football-season’s inebriated, boring reality of these that I walked away from the fraternity house, Deke, one suppertime in late September 1971.

Never regretted.
