Happy Upper Middle-Class Ignorance

The familial and social group life and mind in which I and my friends were, as it is sometimes said, “brought up” provided us with no substantive content or context to understand history, it’s ideas, events, literature,… or much well of anything else outside the upper middle-class life in which we were raised.
