Very interesting and “enlightening” to learn that football was rejected by most churches as a sin in the late 19th century. Even Saint Paul was brought in to comment on the physical rather than spiritual nature of man in football. But by the 1920s, most of the upper and middle class embraced college football as not a sin. Therefore, it was socially acceptable!
